The Percussion ensembles are offered for credit during fall and spring semester. They provide unique experiences for students and embrace many diverse performance opportunities.

The Percussion Ensembles are both a traditional concert ensemble that studies classic and contemporary literature, as well as transcriptions of standard, jazz and popular styles and often present new percussion performance practices in a contemporary medium through the use of electronically triggered devices and theatrical lighting and staging. This combination of elements unites aural and visual entertainment with a uniquely creative twist. Virtually any surface becomes the canvas from which performers paint aural images.

These are combined with performance-controlled visual and video elements in a diverse multimedia environment. The ensemble also provides students the opportunity to apply their technical classroom knowledge in creating their own electronic instruments and incorporating them into small and large group performances. Auditions are held the first Monday and Wednesday of each semester.
