Visiting Assistant Professor, School of Music
Claire Arthur received her PhD in music theory and cognition from Ohio State University where she worked in David Huron’s cognitive and systematic musicology lab. Following that, she spend two years as a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University working on the SIMSSA project. Her research has largely focused on modeling musical structure from a statistical perspective, as well as examining the cognitive and behavioral correlates of those structures, especially as it relates to musical expectations or emotional responses. Her research methodologies include both perceptual experiments as well as computational data analysis and music information retrieval.
